
NASA has launched the Android version of the NASA App just in time to use it to watch the space shuttle Atlantis launch.
The same app has been available for the iPhone and iPad for some time and has achieved over 5 million downloads. That’s due in no small part to the number of features on offer, with the most useful today being access to live streaming NASA TV feeds.
As well as the ability to watch the space shuttle Atlantis launch from your Android device, the NASA app offers up thousands of images from NASA’s growing collection, a library of NASA videos, mission information both past and present, launch countdown clocks, visible pass information for the International Space Station, ISS and Earth Orbiting Satellite tracking, and access to social features such as NASA Twitter and Facebook posts. Earlier this week we learned that the Huawei M835 was available from MetroPCS. I’m not sure if I missed it when going over the MetroPCS website, or if they added another handset later, but they’ve also apparently added the Samsung Freeform III. It looks like a smartphone, but it’s really just a full-QWERTY messaging phone that resembles a BlackBerry. Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC has every right to brag about its accomplishments as it has been honored with eight Awards for excellence in product design, originating from three separate international organizations.
“Countless HTC employees came together to earn the recognition we received at IDEA 2011, red dot 2011 and IDA 2010,” said Scott Croyle, vice president of design at HTC. At the 2011 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) only, HTC collected four awards as follows: Gold for the HTC Droid Incredible, silver for the HTC EVO 4G, bronze for the HTC Legend with the HTC Aria being a finalist in the communications tool category.
